PowerChock System 5

The Power Chock™ System 5 is the top of the line model of the Power Chock™ family of products. This model includes the restraint mechanism, a complete communication system, control and detection systems that allow full integration with other door and dock leveler systems.

The Power Chock™ System 5 combines the ultimate ease of operation and universal compatibility, with the lowest total cost of ownership in the industry.

System Components

The Power Chock™ System 5 is composed of a large steel chock mounted on the end of an articulated, counterbalanced arm. The chock is placed in front of the vehicle’s rear wheel and locks onto a grade-level ground plate.

The communication system consists of three (3) sensors (arm, wheel and dock), an alarm, and interior and exterior signal lights that provide a clear signal to both dock employees and truck drivers that it is safe to begin loading or unloading operations.

Product Highlights

  • Unsurpassed Restraint – Simple physics: truck’s weight pushes chock teeth into robust ground plate grid.
  • Interface with leveler- No Chock, No Loading – exterior alarm triggers if dock leveler is raised before chock is set.
  • Sensor Detects Proper Chock Position – Physically-protected non-contact wheel sensor detects proper chock position.
  • Easy to Set – Chock handle is ergonomically positioned on the spring-loaded counterbalanced arm and can chock wheels as far out as 14 feet from the loading dock.
  • Solid Components – Chock is made from high-tensile steel, 4 times harder than conventional steel. Ground plate comprised of a series of robust grids to clamp chock.
  • Superior Steel Protection – Ground plate and arm are hot-dipped galvanized at over 800 degrees Fahrenheit. Chock has double protection: zinc-plated and painted with Epoxy Mastic.
  • Designed for Winter – Chock is designed to break through ice and snow using the weight of the truck. Snow removal is easy with optional All-Direction Ground Plate, equipped with angled steel ramps on all sides. Steel deflector tabs extend below surface level to deflect edges of plows over steel ramps. Canadian winter tested!
  • Self Monitoring Diagnostic Control System – Complete electrical system with lights, sensors and alarms enables monitoring year round, 24/7. Workers are alerted by “chirp” from control panel every 30 seconds when there is a deficiency in the system.
  • Built in “Trace Mode” Allows Quick Planned-Maintenance Checks – With just a flip of a switch, maintenance personnel can check all lights and sensors for proper operation in just seconds!
  • Virtually eliminates field errors – All units pre-assembled, pre-wired and tested at the factory for quality control and minimum installation time. High quality anchors, fasteners and brackets supplied for standard installation.
  • Quality Engineering Reduces Total Cost of Ownership
  • Optional Interlocks
    • With the Leveler – wheel sensor must detect wheel for dock leveler to be enabled and loading process to begin. This greatly reduces energy waste and risk of theft.
    • With the Dock Door- The dock door can only be opened when the chock is set.
  • Simple, reliable system made with high quality components makes for a wise long-term investment.

Warranty

The Power Chock™ vehicle restraint is guaranteed to be exempt from defects in fabrication and components if used properly and as intended, for a period of one (1) year following delivery date, and includes a three (3) year limited warranty on the Power Chock™ assembly.

Simplicity of design

The Power ChockTM System has proved to be indispensable in our working environment. Our drivers love it because it’s so easy to use. It provides the level of security that we needed at Molson and we are extremely satisfied after having tried several different technologies.

Alex Zarate, Packaging Manager
Molson Canada

Easy to use

For our shunt drivers, it takes less than 30 seconds to set or remove the PowerChock. There has been no financial impact or extra cost with the use of the PowerChock systems.

Mr. Alex Tarini, Director of Distribution
Metro Grocers

Universal compatibility

I wanted a restraint that didn’t depend on RIG bars, which are sometimes rusted out or torn off. The PowerChockTM System goes along with what drivers have been taught to do, which is to set a chock when they back intothe dock. This system gives us peace of mind.

Matthew Bourlakas, COO
Second Harvest Food Bank

Maintenance

With the Power Chock System, we purchased value. From a maintenance stand point, there is virtually nothing that can go wrong with these units and they provide the safety we were looking for. The average cost per unit has been less than $50 a year. We have been very pleased with the great support  of the GMR team.

Mike Lecroy, Maintenance Manager
Covidien

Reduce Repair Cost

Since we installed loading dock door barriers, our dock doors have not been struck. As a result our maintenance and repair budget has been significantly reduced.

Denis Vallée, Director of Maintenance
Olymel L.P

Choose Safety. Choose GMR Safety

We purchased the PowerChockTM System for the safety level it provided. We have installed this equipment in various facilities over the last 12 years. In our opinion, it is the best system on the market.

Serge Guy, Director
Molson-Coors

Total Cost Ownership

We wanted a system that would work with all types of vehicles. We tested many types of restraints; the simplicity of the Power ChockTM System and its total cost of ownership was what sold it for me.

Welcome to GMR Safety

We make it simple to be safe

GMR Safety is your first stop for innovative dock safety products!  GMR Safety develops, manufactures, and markets the POWER CHOCK vehicle restraint device and CLEAR TO GO safety barriers, Door-Saver, and Walking Zone products.

Early departure and trailer creep

An unsecured or poorly secured trailer is always at risk of early departure or trailer creep, which can lead to loading dock accidents.  These dangerous conditions can also result in damage to expensive equipment and valuable cargo.  Effective truck restraint is key to preventing loading dock accidents and fatalities!

Dock door damage and dock drop-offs

Forklifts can damage your loading dock doors when no safety barrier protects closed doors.  And forklifts can fall off loading docks when doors are open.  In addition, when the doors are open there is the potential hazard of forklifts falling off the loading dock, which can result in a serious dock accident.

Pedestrian safety

Pedestrian safety is not an issue to be overlooked. According to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), close to 20 percent of all forklift accidents involve a pedestrian being struck by the forklift, translating to almost 19,000 people per year.

Industry Solutions

Patented solutions for these dock safety problems:

  1. The POWER CHOCK™ System is a superior wheel lock and vehicle restraint system that handles early departure and trailer creep hazards. Wheel restraints are much more effective for keeping a truck restrained at the dock than the standard rubber trailer chock.
  2. The CLEAR TO GO BARRIER reduces the potential for loading dock door damage and helps prevent dock drop-offs.
  3. The CLEAR TO GO™ Walking Zone is a magnetic based safety barrier, quickly repositioned when hit, safely delimits pedestrian zones and working stations. Its mobility gives users an additional safety feature: no risk of getting stuck between the barrier and a forklift.
  4. The CLEAR TO GO™ Door-Saver is a unique traffic system to control vehicle circulation indoors as well as out. It’s an excellent protection tool for industrial garage doors. The simple design works by rapidly positioning a high visibility stop signal in the driver’s field of view, giving the driver more time to react before the door closes. This sequence greatly reduces the risk of vehicles striking upward-acting doors.
